Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 16, 2026

Amador Valley Chiropractic ("Amador Valley Chiropractic," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of information entrusted to us.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, maintain, and protect information through our website, online scheduling services, patient communications, and other services associated with our chiropractic practice.

Because Amador Valley Chiropractic is a healthcare provider, certain information we maintain is protected by federal and California healthcare privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 ("HIPAA") and the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act ("CMIA"). Those laws may provide protections that apply specifically to medical information and protected health information ("PHI").

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Notice of Privacy Practices, which describes in greater detail how we may use and disclose PHI for treatment, payment, healthcare operations, and other purposes permitted or required by law.

3. ChiroTouch Cloud and CT Engage

CT Engage may assist our practice with administrative and patient communication functions, which may include:

  • Patient correspondence

  • Text-message and email communications

  • Patient surveys

ChiroTouch Cloud and CT Engage are third-party technology services used by our practice to support the operation of our healthcare practice.

Where a vendor creates, receives, maintains, or transmits PHI on behalf of a covered healthcare provider, HIPAA generally requires the relationship to be governed by appropriate business associate arrangements and restrictions on the use and disclosure of PHI.

Amador Valley Chiropractic uses ChiroTouch Cloud and CT Engage for purposes related to operating our practice and communicating with our patients. We do not authorize these systems to use our patients' medical records or PHI for unrelated third-party marketing purposes.

For information about ChiroTouch's own privacy practices, please refer to ChiroTouch's Privacy Policy.

4. No Sale of Medical Records or Protected Health Information

Amador Valley Chiropractic does not sell, rent, or otherwise provide patients' medical records, protected health information, or confidential health information to third-party marketing companies for their own marketing purposes.

We do not sell patient lists, medical records, health histories, diagnoses, treatment information, or other PHI to advertisers, data brokers, pharmaceutical companies, marketing companies, or other unrelated third parties for those parties' independent marketing purposes.

We also do not sell or provide patient information to third parties in exchange for payment for the purpose of allowing those third parties to market their own products or services to our patients.

HIPAA generally requires an individual's authorization for uses or disclosures of PHI for marketing, subject to limited exceptions, and specifically restricts the sale of PHI and disclosure of patient lists to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

Nothing in this section prohibits disclosures that are permitted or required by applicable law.

5. Disclosure of Information to Service Providers

We may use third-party companies and service providers to assist us in operating our practice.

Depending on the services they provide, these companies may include vendors providing:

  • Website hosting

  • Security services

  • Practice-management services

  • Accounting or professional services

Where applicable, we require vendors that handle PHI on our behalf to enter into appropriate agreements and to safeguard and use PHI only as permitted by applicable law and our relationship with the vendor.

HIPAA business associates are generally required to use and disclose PHI only as permitted by their agreement with the covered entity or as required by law and must implement appropriate safeguards for electronic PHI.

Where appropriate and permitted by law, these communications may be sent using ChiroTouch Cloud, CT Engage, or other communication systems used by our practice.

Patients should understand that text messages and email are not necessarily secure methods for communicating highly sensitive medical information. Please do not send highly sensitive medical information through ordinary text message or email unless our office specifically instructs you to do so.

7. Marketing and Communications About Our Services

Amador Valley Chiropractic may communicate with current or former patients about services provided by Amador Valley Chiropractic when permitted by applicable law.

Communications concerning treatment, healthcare operations, appointment scheduling, follow-up care, or other healthcare-related activities may be permitted under HIPAA without being considered "marketing" in the same manner as communications promoting unrelated third-party products or services.

When HIPAA requires patient authorization for a marketing use or disclosure of PHI, Amador Valley Chiropractic will obtain the required authorization before making that use or disclosure.

We do not sell or provide our patients' PHI to unrelated third parties so those parties can independently market their products or services.

HIPAA distinguishes certain healthcare-related communications from marketing and generally requires authorization for other uses or disclosures of PHI for marketing.

8. California Privacy Rights

Amador Valley Chiropractic is located in California and is committed to complying with applicable California privacy laws.

California's privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), provide certain rights to California consumers.

However, California law contains exemptions for certain medical information and for certain information maintained, used, or disclosed by healthcare providers and HIPAA-covered entities. Certain medical information and PHI are exempt from some or all CCPA requirements when the applicable statutory conditions are met.

Where California privacy rights apply to information maintained by Amador Valley Chiropractic, we will honor those rights as required by applicable law.

9. California Medical Information

California law provides additional protections for medical information.

Amador Valley Chiropractic is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of patients' medical information and will use and disclose medical information only as permitted or required by applicable law.

California patients generally have rights concerning their medical information, including rights relating to access, correction, and restrictions on certain disclosures.

Where California law provides greater privacy protection than federal law, we will comply with the applicable legal requirements.
